Jackson | Norman Newborn Photographer

I got a call a couple of weeks ago from a really sweet lady, asking if I was available the next day for a newborn shoot.  I can't always schedule things last minute, but it happened to be a time that I could.  After our shoot I kept thinking about how grateful I was that it worked out for us to meet and photograph such sweet people with such an amazing story.  As we snapped away while this precious little newborn snoozed, Catherine told us that she and Eddie had been married for 23 years.  They'd waited a really long time for this little blessing.  After failed fertility treatments and two adoptions that both fell through (the week before the babies were born), Catherine's cousin agreed to be a surrogate for their baby.  It was amazing for me to hear Catherine talk about the incredible gift her cousin gave her by carrying her child.  Isn't that beautiful?!  In the short time that I've been photographing people, the thing I've loved the most is encountering people like Eddie and Catherine, and hearing their truly inspiring stories.  I hope they'll always cherish their photographs and use them to tell their stories for years to come. (:  Here are a few of their sweet little Jackson.  I loved his little smiles as he slept.

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes...

We are welcoming 2012 with some exciting changes at Amanda Scott Photography, and I want to take some time to share a just a few of them with all of you (I hope you'll take time to read!).  A lot has happened in my life personally over the last couple of years that has caused me to put any business growth on the back burner (you know, the crusty one that you know needs cleaning but you just keeping pretending not to see it and hope it doesn't catch fire and ruin a perfectly good dinner).  I've continued to photograph for lots of people, and enjoyed every minute of it, but when it's come to the business end of things, I've let the ball drop in a lot of ways.

I'm excited about 2012 because I'm going to challenge myself and my business in a lot of ways.  Most importantly, I'm preparing myself for a lot of artistic growth.  All photographers know what it is like to go through slumps every now and then, or what it is like for passion to dwindle.  I've looked through my work time and time again recently, and while I see proud moments every now and then, I also see so much room for growth.  I'm excited about some personal photo projects I'm planning for the near future that will help me to focus in on the things that I love about this art, and hopefully the growth that I'm ready to experience will be clearly seen in all of my upcoming work.  I haven't felt like I've been able to make time for this over the last couple of years, but with some of the changes happening, I will be able to make this a priority.

This leads me to the newest and biggest change in ASP, and the one I'm most thrilled about...drumroll please...

I HAVE A NEW ASSISTANT/BUSINESS MANAGER!!!

I am beyond excited to share this news, as it is seriously changing the way things work around here.  My beautiful, amazing and talented new assistant is Alissa, and if I didn't mention it before, she is amazing.  She deserves her own blog post...which is why I'm saving more details about her and what she is doing for just that.  Alissa is helping me to organize my business in a way that I didn't know how to do myself, and we have big plans for the future.  I hope you all will follow us on this awesome journey, because we are both super stoked about it. (:

A few other changes that you might need to know about:

  • Pricing changes

We've just changed the structure of our pricing completely.  One of the most important things to us this year is to offer an incredible service, giving you the very best quality and an experience that you'll love from beginning to end.  Those of you who have worked with me in the past know that, while you might like the photos I took for you, service and turn around time have not been my forte.  That has to change, and the new pricing structure will aid in that change.  I will be posting a link to the new pricing on the blog and website soon, but if you just can't wait to find out shoot me an email and I'll let you know more.

  • Regular Blog and Facebook updates

If you're not already following us on Facebook, please Like us now!  We'll keep you updated there about monthly specials, share new work and run a contest every now and then to keep it fun.  We'll now be updating the blog a couple of times (or more) each week, and we hope you'll continue to follow us here.  I'm going to work hard to keep you all in the know about what we're doing behind the scenes to make ASP better and better.  And we LOVE comments!  So let us know what you think from time to time.

  •  New albums and print products

I'll share some photos and more info about this in a few weeks...I'm very excited about our albums and portrait books, and hope you will be too!!

  •  Monthly news letter

Starting in March, we'll be sending out a monthly email with all kinds of fun goodies and surprises for our lovely clients, as well as the latest ASP news.  If you're interested in recieving this (and all of the discounts and incentives that come with it), shoot us an email at info@amandascottphotography.com and we'll get your name on the list.

As I said before, we'll be sharing more changes in the coming weeks and months. But we wanted to give you a little peek into what is happening around here.  I am so thankful for all of the awesome people I've had the privilege to photograph in the past, and I'm looking forward to a year of new faces...and hands, and shoes, and all of those other fun details I am constantly aiming my camera at. (:  I hope you all have a lovely Saturday, and come back to the blog soon!
